V Fit Tornado Rowing Machine Review

V-Fit Tornado Rowing Machine Review

Summary: V-Fit have a growing reputation for delivering solid mid-priced home fitness equipment. The V-Fit Tornado Air Rower is an upgrade of an earlier best-seller (the Amertis). Compared to that one, the seat has been improved, the unit restyled and the air-resistance – which increases the faster your row – fine-tuned. This rowing machine folds, which is important as they are long when in use. At the price point, you get a solid rower from a well-known brand.

You might think that ‘club style’ is a bold claim. Check the feedback from 100’s of buyers on this, the comments are hugely positive.

Detailed Review of the V-Fit Tornado Air Rower

You’ll get a silver, black and orange unit – with the fan-style air resistance unit at the end the stand out feature. This is made of a mix of steal, aluminium and polyurethane, giving you a solid base. The footplates are oversized, and will pivot. There are Velcro straps to hold your feet in place.

V-Fit note the max user weight is 115kgs. This is a guideline. Comments show that 6-foot-tall users have been happy with this model – so height should not be an issue here.

It would be next to impossible to send a fully assembled rowing machine. Fortunately, the assembly is minimal, with 30 minutes mentioned. Tools are included.

Proportional Resistance Rowing

Instead of manually adjusting the resistance, air-rowers get more tough as you speed up. This is known as ‘proportional resistance’. If you row slowly, you will find this very easy. Once you move up to a sprint speed, things are completely different. This allows you to control your effort without needing to manually adjust anything.

Console View Tornado Rower

Electronics / Console

You’ll need 2xAA batteries for the console. This has a split display – a big advantage over single display models which constantly switch between different settings. The numbers are nice and clear, and will show you your speed, distance, stroke rate, calories burned and time.

What Else Do I Need with my V-Fit Air Rower?

Aside from those AA batteries, I recommend you think of your gym floor! A rubber mat is commonly bought together with this rower. This will not only protect your floor from wear and tear, it will help to keep your workout quiet too.

Feedback: What Did Previous Buyers Say?

The clear majority of feedback has been 4 or 5 stars. Of those who were less impressed, putting the rower together seems to have been a sticking point. Most users (even some older ones), found putting this together a 30-minute job which was not a problem.

One commenter mentioned this rower favourably after saying he only used the commercial ‘Concept 2’ models in his local gym before! I would not personally compare the two. The VFit tornado is a solid mid-price pick, and the Concept 2 an amazing commercial quality rowing machine.

Wrap Up: Is the V-Fit Tornado Air Rower Right for You?

Smooth resistance is the hallmark of this solid home rowing machine. It works by increasing the resistance as you increase your speed, giving you a lot of fine control over your workout. Rowing is excellent for cardio, and will help to tone up your upper body too. This model comes from a reputable brand, has keen price point for the quality – and a lot of happy buyers have already left comments.
