Better bike – better value! NordicTrack have released amazing new upright bikes – and retired the trusty GX 2.7u from their range.
I love the new GX 4.5 Pro.
Not just the classic NordicTrack design and quality, it works with your iPad (or phone) to connect with live training or videos taking you on scenic routes.
Even better, the updated model won’t break the bank.

This is an upright style exercise bike (that is the ‘U’ from the name if you were wondering!). It has tall good looks – especially when you add your tablet on top. The seat is big and comfy and is also adjustable. This bike weighs 30kgs and is suitable for users up to 125kgs – a little over 19 stone.
Once assembled, your bike is 114cm long, just 55cm wide and 148cm tall.
The handlebars are distinctive, pointing straight up. If you look closely, you will see that there are EKG hand grips on them. They measure your pulse rate, a great way to track the improvement in your fitness.
NordicTrack exercise bikes have excellent warranties. You must register within 28 days to activate it. Your bike is then covered for 2 years full parts and labour, with 5 years for the frame.
Small welcome touches include front transport wheels and ergonomic pedals with adjustable straps.
Many bikes from rival brands in this price range have manual resistance. The GX 2.7 U controls the resistance level digitally – directly through the console. This works via a solid 7kg flywheel. Not needing to stop and turn a knob makes a big difference. At this price point, digital resistance is a welcome extra.
The console includes 20 programmes. You can work through them as your fitness improves – or adjust the resistance manually to do things your own way.
You get a full year of iFit membership with the GX 2.7 U bike.
Based on the sale price (at the time of writing). This takes the price down to a silly level. There are two things to keep in mind:
iFit is amazing. Instead of peddling in front of the TV, you get to take part in live classes with top-rated personal trainers. You can choose scenic vistas from the maps function, go through a vast library of training sessions, track your stats, and even get involved in the social aspects of the app.
iFit gets better and better, you can check out the latest details / functions on the GX 2.7 U bike product page on the official NordicTrack website.
No surprises in the feedback at different retailers for this model. NordicTrack equipment is a big jump in quality compared to the ‘unknown’ brands littering the market these days. The GX 2.7 U was called well made, stable and ‘excellent quality’.
There were one or two grumbles about assembly – which is standard enough for fitness equipment – especially models like this one which work for young and old alike. To be balanced, many other people mentioned that assembly was straightforward.
I noticed there were no complaints of bikes breaking after a few weeks. Again, this is typical of my experience with NordicTrack. Just in case, don’t forget to register for your warranty!
If the sale is still on when you read this, a great value bike just became exceptional value. When you include the free iFit subscription, then you have an absolute bargain.
This model is perfect for someone after a simple, quality product which will keep going for years. It is flexible enough to work with you as your fitness levels improve. The comfy seat, upright position (not a sprinting bike) and solid construction make it safe and easy for all ages.
Add digital resistance and the entertaining iFit classes, and you have an exercise bike that you will genuinely look forward to using.
